The biggest problem with the (view) applets lies with a problem with microsoft internet explorer in combination with sun's java virtual machine.

If you don't want to be confronted with tons of authentication prompts from the applets you need to enable session authentication, if you get the applets to actually work that is. (most of the time when the applets don't work, you end up killing internet explorer from the taskmanager).

this has been a problem for years now, but because things worked with microsoft's VM it never was a big issue to me personally, but since microsoft's removed java vm support, it 's becoming a different ball game.

oh well, guess it's time to give mozilla/opera a try.
